Builders Merchant Federation  – BMF Training and Learning Academy

The BMF is an acknowledged leader in well thought out industry training, delivered consistently with excellent results. The BMF developed an entirely new training programme for a cohort of managers, the BMF Branch Managers Forum (BM Forum). Now CPD accredited, this programme is one of the core elements of the BMF Learning Academy It is held at the BMF’s HQ at Coventry, where the programme of seminars, workshops and masterclasses fully utilise the BMF’s conference facilities. .The BMF Branch Managers Forum has now captured the support of BMF merchants members of every size throughout the country. Following a sell-out inaugural event, over 500 branch managers have been trained in the last 5 years. This innovative approach to middle management skills development is now established as a key feature in the BMF calendar and a central element of our new BMF Learning Academy, with two training events scheduled per year. Delegate feedback confirms that the BM Forum delivers a positive commercial effect on our members’ business.


Catering Equipment Suppliers Association – Certified Food Service Professional

CFSP (Certified Food Service Professional) is the industry specific professional qualification for the UK foodservice industry. It has been introduced under the auspices of CESA (Catering Equipment Suppliers Association) which is already an established and highly regarded body within the industry. CESA’s objective is to help improve the levels of professionalism in the sector by creating a universally recognised and respected industry ‘standard’ for knowledge and experience.


Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy  – Achieving Finance Excellence in Policing

Recent years have seen a severe reduction in police resources and an increase in crime (recorded crimes in England and Wales rose by 32% in the past three years). CIPFA has a wealth of expertise and knowledge that we have brought together into a new learning and development programme to address the issues facing the sector today and into the future. The Achieving Financial Excellence in Policing programme is designed to support and bring together police finance professionals on a national. The programme has been driven by partners in the sector. Building on national capacity, we provide local support enabling teams to stay in control of their financial strategy and remain resilient. This includes leadership academies, apprenticeship opportunities and exclusive peer to peer networking events. Despite the programme being in its first year, 62 organisations are already taking part, including all police forces across Wales registered, and all forces in South West England. As a result of sign ups, we have established four regional Finance Business Partnering courses for police. We are supporting full training analysis for Scottish Police, and are working with the College of Policing to deliver finance and business modules on their next Strategic Command Courses.


Electrical Distributors’ Association – EDA Electro-technical Product Knowledge Programme

The EDA’s Electro-Technical Product Knowledge Programme is a City & Guilds accredited suite of 12 stand-alone distance learning training modules. Launched in 2018, the Programme gives members and affiliates access to rigorous and robust training designed to boost the professional development of their teams and, at the same time, help those businesses create commercial advantage through enhanced knowledge of the complex hi-tech products sold through the UK’s electro-technical supply chain. Customer service, expert advice and product support are key value-added services our sector has identified to enable it to compete in an increasingly digitalised world. Each module comprises two elements: a full-colour hard-copy textbook and a digitally fillable End of Module Assessment (EMA), marked by assessors at the Institution of Engineering and Technology. Offering complete flexibility, learners and their managers pick and mix the subjects and order of study. Personalised City & Guilds’ certificates are sent to everyone achieving a Pass, Credit or Distinction. Suitable for new recruits and experienced personnel wanting to consolidate their knowledge, over 1,000 modules have been ordered so far. Moreover, two allied trade associations have been so impressed by the quality that they have asked for some modules to be re-branded for their use.


Finance & Leasing Association – Specialist Automotive Finance

The Finance & Leasing Association (FLA) is the leading trade body for the asset, consumer and motor finance sectors in the UK. Over 91% of all private new car registrations in the UK were financed by the FLA’s members in 2018. A key risk for the industry and consumers is the way motor finance, provided by lenders, is sold by motor retailers and brokers. In 2007, to professionalise the sale of motor finance, the FLA launched Specialist Automotive Finance (SAF) an initiative which provides free online training for motor retailers. SAF aims to improve the knowledge and professionalism of retail staff selling motor finance products, to help ensure good customer outcomes and to build consumer confidence in motor finance. In 2019 SAF has been redeveloped and expanded to provide a pathway of learning – making it easier than ever before for staff to attain the SAF Advanced level-3 motor finance qualification. 36,000 customer facing staff from 1,400 firms are registered to take the annual SAF Expert annual competency test and over 300 have obtained the SAF Advanced level-3 qualification. SAF is widely regarded as the industry standard for motor finance learning.


Institute of Leadership & Management – MyLeadership

MyLeadership – identifies personal development needs, Individuals can unlock their potential with MyLeadership, a cutting edge e-learning tool tailored to suit individual skills requirements, wherever they are on their leadership journey. Combining online learning resources with interactive guidance from Institute experts, MyLeadership forms the basis of a personalised leadership development programme. Based on The Institute of Leadership & Management unique Dimensions of Leadership framework – 5 dimensions, 49 components comprising a set of unique online self assessments supported by a suite of expert learning resources.

Lifting Equipment Engineers Association – LEEA Academy

Now in its 75th Anniversary year, the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association [LEEA] has established the LEEA Academy for its 1300+ members worldwide, providing what are the industry benchmark, globally recognised training courses, LEEA have etsablished eLearning, blended learinng and instructor-led training options accredited by City & Guilds and CSCS. This year, LEEA is also commemorating its first meeting, held on 3 June 1944, when nine people representing eight chain testing houses met at the Great Eastern Hotel in London. It was at this meeting that the idea to form an association to take on the might of government was conceived. The name they chose was ‘The London Chain Testers Association’, which would eventually go on change its name to the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association in 1988. Not many trade associations can claim to be still growing in their 75th year, but this is the situation we enjoy at LEEA. It is important that LEEA marks its 75th anniversary in an appropriate way; we will be promoting the new LEEA Lifting Equipment Technician Apprenticeship and School Engagement L&D projects to encourage newcomers to the lifting equipment industry, and support a sustainable, qualified workforce for the future of our industry.


World Association of News Publishers  – Media Management Accelerator

WAN-IFRA’s Media Management Accelerator (MMA) was developed to meet publisher’s needs to have a one-stop digital destination for best practices on the topics of digital strategy and revenue diversification, paid content and reader revenue, digital advertising and innovation. To date the platform provides over 10 hours of video-led instruction from leading digital experts and features 8 documentary-style video case studies from local and national publishers from around the world. The MMA is the media industry’s first and only certification program and it empowers publishers with the necessary tools to jumpstart their digital transformation. And it challenges users to develop new business models and digital products with the certification requirement. Over 100 diplomas have been issued to users who have completed the certification element and are now globally recognized as MMA Digital Media Practitioners.
