BEST ASSOCIATION DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION
Building Engineering Services Association – BESA Academy
In response to urgent industry need, the Building Engineering Services Association (BESA) Academy digitised its training provision in less than four months.
Within 48 hours of launching the online Academy, one worker had passed their Health and Safety Environment test, received his certificate, and applied online for the SKILLcard needed to give access to site.
In less than two years, BESA Academy has over 7,500 individuals registered, regularly accessing the free CPD’s as well as other online regulatory courses.
The new platform enables the build of a “one stop shop” for any individuals within the building services industry for training and career development. Providing courses online, face to face and hybrid, signposting to colleges for apprenticeship provision whilst capturing the evidence of all outcomes to provide a passport of competence, the Academy aims to be the solution for employers and employees. Utilising the content to build career pathways, combined with knowledge of the achievements of an individual’s training to date to suggest, promote and encourage future skills development.
Chartered Insurance Institute – The Journal
Insurance is a profession that is steeped in traditional practices yet is constantly evolving. And helping insurance professionals keep ahead of the pace of change for more than 120 years is The Journal – the membership magazine of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII).
But the past 12-18 months have seen a dramatic shift in the way CII members expect to receive the content they need to succeed in their careers. A traditional print publication distributed globally is no longer the most appropriate – or commercially viable – platform in a post-pandemic world.
And so The Journal has undergone the most radical transformation of its history.
● From printing 85,000 printed copies down to 5,000
● Making phenomenal cost and environmental savings
● Preserving the creative values of a page-turning publication, but distributed digitally
● Attracting readers beyond the CII membership where it sits within its own enhanced website – thejournal.cii.co.uk – and exploits the synergies this presents
As such The Journal has remained a steadfast constant that CII members can rely on for expertise, guidance and CPD throughout the most tumultuous period of their professional lives.
ENT UK – Development and launch of the new ENT UK website
In March 2022, ENT UK launched its new website to great fanfare from members and staff alike. With an enhanced members’ area, the new site offers an impressive variety of new and specialised integrated operations that were not previously possible. There is an upgraded patient information section, enabling our mission to provide the public with high-quality information. The site is versatile, future-proof and being more efficient, it has resulted in significant cost reductions. Integrated into the new system are custom-built modules enabling, among other tasks, the direct upload of abstracts for ENT UK’s events, applications for grants and fellowships, and voting software for the association and its subspecialty groups. As well as increasing member convenience and freeing up staff time, this reduces ENT UK’s reliance on external companies previously used to oversee these processes. Overall, the site is more user-friendly, attractive, and simpler to navigate than its previous incarnation, with improved functionality and a vastly simplified site structure.
Institute of Association Leadership & Cantarus – A Compelling New Visual Identity
Cantarus partnered with the IAL to help bring their organisational goals to fruition. We provided them with a refreshed brand identity and website that would help build brand awareness, deliver significant impact, and ensure all visual communications and marketing were coherent.
We conducted a full review of their existing site and brand, creating a series of concepts and high-level mood boards to test and see what was most appropriate. We then focused on the specific branding, from the logo to the font style, to the colour palettes and the various imagery used across the site. All the new designs were chosen with digital accessibility front of mind.
We then moved onto the web phase, building the site on Umbraco using our expert knowledge as Umbraco Gold Partners to create customised themes and designs. The new site and brand launch went live with a bang in August 2021 and have since received fantastic feedback from the IAL and their users alike.
“The new IAL brand is more than we could have hoped for and will really resonate with our members. Cantarus listened to what we wanted and have completely exceeded our expectations.” Laura Gibson, Project Manager
Institute and Faculty of Actuaries – The Actuary
The Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) is the chartered professional body dedicated to educating and regulating over 32,000 actuaries worldwide. Its owned media brand, The Actuary, aims to encourage membership engagement and contribute to the high standards of education, competency, integrity and quality research to the sounding board of its readership.
In the digital realm, The Actuary magazine is complemented by a dedicated website at theactuary.com. But while the printed magazine had constantly modernised and evolved over the years to keep members interested, The Actuary website looked old-fashioned and was unable to showcase the content or the design of the print publication to its best potential.
The Institute needed a site that was clearer, more easily navigable and attractive to look at. Simplicity was key – actuarial content is complex but there was no reason why the site had to be.
Following a dramatic transformation programme, The Actuary’s redesigned and relaunched website is attracting a record number of international users – vital to the IFoA’s growth strategy – alongside its roundtable and webinar programmes, and the new podcast series that is providing members with content to listen to on the go.
Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management – Facilitate
When the British Institute of Facilities Management changed its name to the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management in late 2018, it sought to better emphasise the roles of those in its membership tasked specifically with managing workplaces.
But the Institute could never have predicted the extent to which the importance of ‘workplace management’ would come to the fore when the pandemic struck in 2020.
Working with Redactive, the IWFM began the development of an all-new website to support its industry-leading media title ‘Facilitate’, which had been rebranded from ‘FM World’ to reflect the organisation’s new focus.
With a sizeable amount of its audience tied to screens more than ever before, when it was launched the new website’s light, airy and dynamic feel could not have been better timed or more welcome. Today, the website performance is exceeding expectations, with every objective being met.
