Chartered Association of Business Schools – Annual Research Conference and Exhibition
A key part of the mission of the Chartered Association of Business Schools is to tackle this lack of understanding and showcase the impact of business & management research to funders, policymakers and the general public. We conducted research with our membership of 121 business schools (via interviews and surveys) to find out how we might do this more effectively and the result was the idea to attach a Research Exhibition to our Annual Research Conference. The intention was to showcase the impact of business and management research to a non-academic audience. The Exhibition would be free to attend for those not attending the conference, and would consist of visually impressive, interactive displays that communicate business school research in accessible and engaging ways. It would be titled ‘Solutions for a prosperous and fair society’. The Conference and Exhibition were held in Edinburgh on 20 March 2019.

Independent Publishers Guild – The IPG Autumn Conference 2018
The IPG’s 2018 Autumn Conference was the biggest and best event of its kind in our history. Featuring expert speakers from the world of publishing and beyond, panel and break-out sessions, an Exhibitors’ Zone, facilitated one-to-one meetings and extensive networking opportunities, it highlighted the enormous contribution of independent publishers to the UK’s culture and economy and equipped our members with inspiration and practical ideas to do better business. The Conference programme was developed through in-depth analysis of previous events and members’ suggestions, and marketed strategically across the IPG’s web, email and social media platforms. It hosted one gold and two silver sponsors, five audio sponsors, a tech sponsor, a charity partner and 12 exhibitors—an unprecedented number of partners for an IPG event. It attracted 350 delegates—up by 12.8% on 2017, and by 79.0% on 2014, when it first became a full-day event. 39% of delegates were attending the Autumn Conference for the first time, and our income increased by more than £20,000 on the 2017 event. The Conference achieved formal CPD accreditation and achieved exceptionally high levels of satisfaction among delegates, with one calling it ‘singularly the most informative day I have spent in publishing.’
Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales – CFO Conference 2018: The Transformational Leader
ICAEW’s CFO Conference is our flagship conference for our members in business, industry and commerce. ICAEW has over 60,000 business members which represent an exclusive community of the most senior CFOs, Finance Directors and Heads of Finance in the UK and around the world. The one day annual CFO conference was designed to offer a unique opportunity for attendees to:
– Keep abreast of all the latest economic updates and industry practices
– Forge new contacts and exchange views and experiences with their peers
– Provide valuable CPD
– Transform business and individual performance
Delegate numbers had started to dwindle and the event continued to have a negative experience for delegates and exhibitor income. We moved locations, revamped the conference programme and partnered with some exceptional clients to deliver a unique and memorable conference experience for our members and non-members both in the UK and overseas. This resulted in almost double the delegate and exhibitor attendance and some exceptional delegate testimonials: ‘A full and fast paced day; great chance to learn more about how others work and make some new contacts, both for commercial and ‘support network’ purposes.’
