British Society of Soil Science – World Congress of Soil Science 2022
Between 31st July – 5th August 2022, the 22nd World Congress of Soil Science took place at the Scottish Event Campus (SEC) in Glasgow, signalling a historic move, and marking the first time it had returned to the UK since 1935.
It was the role of the British Society of Soil Science, as the local association, to organise the congress, ‘Soil Science – Crossing Boundaries, Changing Society’, which would bring together 1,700 soil enthusiasts from around the world and set the scene for vital knowledge sharing between industry-leading academics and practitioners.
One of the key objectives of the meeting was to push the boundaries of sustainable event design. Soil plays a significant role in ecological sustainability and the event took place shortly after the IPCC report issued a ‘code red’ for climate change, and just six months after the Conference of Parties (COP26) event.
The World Congress of Soil Science should be seen as a truly progressive event. Not just in terms of the world changing content it created, but one that delivered on a bigger purpose; creating legacies for communities from local to global.

Now in its second year as a hybrid event, the CIPD’s Annual Conference and Exhibition continues to offer the very best content and show features to encourage discussion, shared learning and thought leadership to engage our audience, whether you attend as an onsite or virtual delegate. As well as offering flexibility to our audience, the hybrid event also overcomes accessibility and geographical barriers that have previously been in place. We have been able to create a richer content proposition by having more virtual international speakers offering views on the agenda from across the globe. By working with our virtual platform provider, we’ve also been able to develop better networking and workshop technology in order to create an inclusive virtual experience. We were able to increase the show’s NPS score year on year for delegates, stating that the show was ‘informative’, ‘inspiring’, and ‘insightful’. The increase in exhibitor NPS score year on year was also reflected through our onsite rebook for stands of 55% (highest in ACE history). The Payments Association – PAY360 2023
PAY360 was launched 20 years ago attracting 126 attendees. It was a member only, one-day single track conference. The conference very slowly grew to 300 strong with £150k revenue by 2019.
In March 2023, we delivered our highest revenue to date, largest audience of 2467 attendees, 130 speakers across two days, a three tracked conference and a 45 strong exhibition at Old Billingsgate.
Due to our accelerated growth, we are now moving to ExCeL for 2024. The vision is to continue to grow as the largest and most influential conference and exhibition in the UK’s payments calendar. The place to meet existing partners, develop new business and shape new policy – the very essence of The Payments Association, serving both our members and wider community.
PAY360 was not only successful as an event but it furthered our vision to grow as an association. The event serves as our largest platform to facilitate industry collaboration and innovation. Furthermore, the event joins the dots between the value in attending the event and the value of being a member. So much so that the member sales team had over 50+ proposals for membership at PAY360 itself.
