British Society for Allergy and Clinical Immunology – Membership Engagement
BSACI (British Society for Allergy and Clinical Immunology) is the UK’s leading organisation for healthcare professionals caring for patients with allergies. Our core aim is to improve allergy care through education, training and research and by developing a range of allergy resources for our members in order to support this.
BSACI’s strategic priorities place members at the heart of our mission, our initiatives are devised and implemented throughout the year, with active involvement from members, including a rolling programme of webinars and virtual Paediatric Allergy Grand Rounds providing high quality, conveniently accessible education on key allergy topics, primary care training days to support and educate GPs across the UK on how to manage allergic patients effectively as there is currently little to no formal training in allergy management for GPs (so far BSACI members have educated over 3,500 primary care health professionals), and the development and publication of clinical guidelines to drive standards in clinical practice (since 2008 our members have developed 13 UK clinical guidelines). There is not one single piece of work at the BSACI that doesn’t have members at the centre driving it forward.
Chartered Institute of Public Relations – CIPR #GetChartered Week
The Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) successfully implemented the low-budget #GetChartered campaign to boost its number of chartered members. Through email marketing, social media, and a dedicated lead gen landing page, the campaign generated leads and raised awareness about the benefits of chartership. Existing chartered members offered support and coaching through the buddy scheme, while testimonials emphasised the value of chartered practitioners.
The campaign produced positive outcomes, including a strong lead pipeline, increased conversion rates, and enhanced engagement. It achieved a 15% conversion rate, resulting in 52 new chartered members and surpassing the target. Additionally, 146 chartership assessment bookings were generated, exceeding the goal of 144 for the year.
The campaign significantly increased website traffic and expanded social media reach, with 516,625 impressions and 5,405,450 impressions on Twitter. The return on investment amounted to £58,400, considering the £5,000 campaign spend. The generated leads were valued at £155,200 in 2022 in total.
As a result of the campaign’s success, CIPR approached the 2023 chartership week in May with an engaged membership, ready to support future applicants.

NHS Charities Together & Cantarus – What Success Looks Like: Crafting an Engaging Online Community
Cantarus partnered with NHS Charities Together to help bring their organisational community goals to fruition. We built the Member Connect online community platform to help members connect and engage with over 230+ NHS charities across the UK, providing a space where members can connect, share best practices, and collaborate.
The community has been a tremendous success, with high levels of engagement and participation amongst members. Member feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with members finding the community an incredibly helpful, and valuable source of information and peer support.
“Our online community, Member Connect, has added value in so many ways. We are faster, stronger and a better membership organisation because of it. Our members are now inspired daily with examples of peer support and value from membership. It is now recommended to members by members as the go-to place for peer support and I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved together.” – Nancy Kinder, Head of Membership at NHS Charities Together
The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales – The New Boardroom Agenda
Our New Boardroom Agenda campaign for ICAEW looks at why the demand for more engaged boards has never been greater and how the role of board members is changing in response.
ICAEW wanted the campaign to communicate the strong role of the accounting profession in improving corporate governance and how boards need to evolve to meet modern-day challenges and stakeholder expectations. Our key objectives for the campaign were:
– Position ICAEW as advocates of good Corporate Governance
– Demonstrate ICAEW support for ‘UK plc’ and the institute’s commitment to supporting the long-term health of all businesses for the good of the economy
– Engage members, particularly Corporate Governance Community members, with innovative thinking and practical advice, reenergising the community and providing support to help them make real and positive change in their organisations
– Build membership of the Corporate Governance community
The campaign content included profile interviews, podcasts and a series of articles, as well as a set of in-depth practical guides to help boards make the right decisions for the long-term.
By the end of the campaign there were 6,278 registered members of the corporate governance community, an increase of 4,310 (or 219%) on the previous year.
The Market Research Society – MRS Mentoring Scheme
In 2016, MRS was considering its portfolio of membership benefits, and wanted to identify new member engagement activities which could:
• Provide continuous professional development (CPD) for both new and experienced Members
• Be available to all Members irrespective of background, experience, geography or employment status
• Support MRS’ wider inclusion and wellbeing programmes and objectives • Strengthen the relationship between MRS and its Members, improving membership retention
• Be a unique individual benefit (as opposed to corporate benefit)
A new MRS Mentoring Scheme was introduced as it met all of the above aims. Since its launch, MRS has managed 14 waves of the Mentoring Scheme with 214 Members being trained as Mentors and 337 Members have benefitted from the scheme. So far c 15% of all Members have benefitted directly from the scheme.
In 2023 MRS conducted research with all current MRS Members that had utilised the Mentoring Scheme as a membership benefit. When asked what they felt was the most valuable elements to their MRS membership 80% identified the Mentoring Scheme.
The MRS Mentoring Scheme symbolises MRS membership engagement at its best – valued by members, supported by exceptional staff which strengthens the value of membership.
